This Reserve wine from the Navarra Region, Olite has 15% Tempranillo, 5% Merlot and 80% Cabernet Sauvignon. This Reserve stays 18 months in French Oak casks and 30 months in bottle. The jewel from the Palacio de Otazu winery: one of the best reserves from Navarra.
Great complexity on the nose. After a while in the cup the wine shows many mineral notes, ripped fruit, smoky notes, black olives and pleasant notes of thyme. Full bodied, compact but fine with deep structure but fresh and again very mineral in the background.
This wine is a result of the blend of a selection of the best grapes Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Merlot in excellent healthy conditions.
Fermented for 22 days, and ageing in new French oak Allier for 18 months with three racking. The harvesting season took place from the 7/10/2000 to the 05/11/2000.
Stunning presentation, it has a superb presence due to its thick bottle glass and shape.

This wine has been granted with 91 points by the ‘Penin Guide’ in 2005.
The Altar 1999 got a scored of 91/100 by the Wine Advocated - Robert Parker [2000’s is as good as its previous year, so even as the result is still pending , we are pretty confident the score will be over 90].

This wine is definitely the best wine we have tried in our trips to Navarra. Its body, flavour and great complexity makes it the perfect choice to accompany red meats, game and cheese dishes. This wine is the kind of wine you would expect on a Michelin star restaurant.

We highly recommend this wine, it is great when having it straight from the bottle, but if you take some time and decant it, you will find yourself in front of an even more complete wine with new aromas and flavours.
